Enjoy a delightful evening of cowboy entertainment.
This feature-length documentary takes you to Santa Fe where the Spanards established ranching four hundred years ago. And where California “dally roping” meets up with Texas “hard and fast style.”
Two hundred years before the Spaniards settled California, they introduced el caballo the horse to Santa Fe. This noble creature changed the vast new land, giving mobility to Native Americans and providing the underpinnings for the great ranching culture of the West.
These ranching skills are still practiced on the great spreads of New Mexico - the Bell, the Pecos, the Conchas, San Cristobal and the Philmont Ranch where Spanish, Indian and Anglo come together, each preserving their own traditions. The film captures these different styles and the good-natured rivalry between the “dally ropers” (Californio-style) and the “tie and hard fast boys” (Texas-style) and the comical tribulations of a Buckaroo cowboss running an outfit full of Texas-raised punchers.
A thoroughly entertaining family film beautifully underscored with the music of Dave Stamey, Don Edwards, Pedro Marquez and many other cowboy singers who have spent many hours in the saddle.
DVDs will be for sale at special show price of $15
